Today we are super excited to announce the title of our game, Chaos Pattern!
The blog has been silent for a while, we’ve had our heads down on a lot of things!
One of those items is that we’re going to launch on Kickstarter in the near future! Here’s a link, and you can sign up to be notified on launch.
We have created what we think are some cool incentives to back the project, and we can’t wait for you to see them 🙂
The game has been coming along nicely this summer. We’ve got Steam integration, more enemies and visual effects. We even have the game running on a Steam Deck, and it looks great! We don’t have all of the controls just right on that yet though.
One thing that we’ve been very focused on lately is a tighter integration of the strategy portion of the game with the action oriented part. We had feedback on this going back to the prototype that we knew we’d have to address at some point, so we’ve been trying to ‘sand down the edges’ to make it as smooth and quick as possible to prepare for the next tactical event.
We also did a brief round of performance optimization, just a few days of work and we were able to boost our frame rate significantly. The Unreal Insights profiler is awesome and helped identify some spots to optimize in short order. We saw a the FPS roughly double with our efforts, and the frame variance was tightened. We also added settings to set some basic settings levels… we’re just using the default engine scalability settings for now, but it makes a huge difference.
That’s it for now, but we’re super excited for these next steps!
